NPC Resolution: Hundreds of Zohrans
Introduction
SMC members authored and introduced the resolution, “Hundreds of Zohrans”, which was then lightly amended and passed unanimously by the National Political Committee (NPC).
This resolution commits DSA to ensuring the electoral momentum begun by Zohran’s campaign does not end with him. DSA will create more electoral training opportunities, including ones led by leaders on Zohran’s campaign to share their skills and knowledge with the rest of DSA. DSA will also expand the NEC’s Socialist Cash phonebanks to the entire DSA list, greatly increasing our fundraising capacity.

Resolution Text
Whereas:
Zohran Mamdani’s campaign for Mayor of New York City and New York City DSA’s role has raised the bar for the potential of democratic socialists in America being able to engage huge participation and support, including nearly 100,000 volunteers stepping up to be part of the movement, and bringing hundreds of thousands of voters to the polls.
DSA recognizes and celebrates the contributions of its members as senior leaders and advisors of Zohran’s campaign.
DSA electoral campaigns mobilize huge volunteer voter contact operations, and have a relationship with our member democracy, giving the races some unique characteristics that DSA-led training is best suited to teach.
The Mamdani campaign has sparked an interest in socialist electoral work among many chapters, and we currently lack the staffing to successfully train and assist all of the chapters who could benefit from it.
The National Electoral Commission has raised $100,000 for endorsed candidates this year, ran new trainings, and is expanding its membership and leadership. This work offers meaningful support to campaigns, but cannot provide the hands-on support and regular advice chapters need to launch their first high-quality campaign.
Therefore be it resolved:
The growth of the DSA electoral program will continue to be a priority of the organization.
DSA’s NPC and Personnel Committee will hire an additional Campaigns Organizer as soon as feasible to support chapters working on electoral campaigns.
Members of the National Electoral Commission will host a quarterly campaign training series, based off of the Campaigns 101, 201, and 202 trainings currently offered to chapters. An email promoting each training series will be sent out to chapter leadership, and an all-member email promoting the training series will be sent out twice per year.
The NEC will coordinate with the Electoral Working Group of NYC-DSA, and create opportunities for Zohran campaign leaders to provide national trainings.
DSA will provide membership lists for use in the Socialist Cash phonebanks, expanding from just the NEC’s list to bring all DSA members into the fundraiser phonebank universe.
